Online Class Requirements
Online Class Requirements
WiloStar3D Academy is a very interactive type of online program for homeschoolers. Because of this, we have online attendance and live class requirements. A quick summary of the requirements is listed below.
Students must choose 2.5 hours on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday to attend 3D study hall. A study hall contract must be filled out with the desired hours the student will commit to each semester. The hours need to take place anytime between 9-3 EST. This is designed to help the student with any questions that might pop up during the school day while they work on the day’s lessons.
At the middle school level, students have four online classes a week. (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday.) Typically the online class meetings occur at 11:45-12:35. This is subject to change. Conference times are posted three weeks before the school year begins.
At the high school level, students have two online classes a week per core subject. Since our high school students take two core subjects a semester that means you will have a live class meeting on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday.) Typically the online class meetings at the high school level occur at afternoon between 1:45-2:35. This is subject to change. Conference times are posted three weeks before the school year begins.
High School Course Scheduling
The WiloStar3D high school course curricula is designed around an integrated approach to language arts, science and social studies. As a result, we schedule high school students into two core integrated 1 credit courses a semester. Students then take one .5 elective and work on PE for .5 credit. This allows students to be working on 3 credits per semester for a total of 6 credits per school year. WiloStar3D Interactive Academy students take English and history simultaneously and science and math the following semester. We have had great success with this approach over the last decade and find it very helpful in all aspects of the distance learning experience.
When a student enters our school, we schedule them into either science and math, or English and history and then allow them to choose their electives. If a student wishes to take an outside elective (a non WiloStar elective) we approve that on a case by case basis. We also allow dual enrollment at local community colleges at the junior and senior levels.
If students want to accelerate graduation they may choose to add on electives on an individual basis and pay individual course fees. Individual course fees for one credit vary depending on the course selected. The core WiloStar3D Interactive Academy tuition covers a full 6 credits a year. See the tuition and fee schedule for any extra fees you might expect to pay as part of our program.
Each secondary course has been designed to address specific academic standards drawn from the original Florida Sunshine State Standards.
