Q

WiloStar3D Academy allows qualifying juniors and seniors the opportunity to participate in dual enrollments at their local community colleges. Students must be in good academic standing with WiloStar and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Many local community colleges establish their own admissions requirements so we suggest you research this at their college website. Credits earned at the local community college will be added to the official high school transcript. If a student wishes to apply a dual enrollment college course to a WiloStar graduation requirement, we evaluate that on a case by case basis.

Q

Graduation Project

All WiloStar3D Academy graduating seniors are required to complete a final graduation project. The full instructions may be found at this link. You will need to carefully think about what you will be working on and time this out so you have it done by May 1rst.

GRADUATION PROJECT REQUIREMENTS
In addition to successful completion of all course requirements, students must also complete a culminating graduation project. The purpose of this project is for students to demonstrate they are able to apply, analyze, synthesize and evaluate information and to communicate significant knowledge and understanding of the concepts learned while a student at WiloStar3D Academy.

1. Review the list of approved graduation projects and select one that meets your interests and/or career goals.
2. Email your selection for final approval.
3. Complete all requirements of the graduation project. You may choose different ways to do your project. This includes writing a research paper,  creating a Wiloworlds presentation, video demonstrations, etc.

Q
Each year, WiloStar recognizes the graduating class by sponsoring a very nice virtual commencement in Wiloworlds. Grads get to wear avatar caps and gowns, march down the virtual aisle and even pick up their diplomas. There are some short speeches from the teachers and the graduating class.

Each graduating senior is more than welcome to invite up to 4 guests to attend if they would like to download Wiloworlds and come in from a remote location. If you do want guests to attend you will need to email me directly with their names by May 1rst. We will then email you with download instructions to provide them directly from your end and also be responsible for making sure they have the audio app working before the big day. Otherwise, you may want to have family members simply gather around your computer to watch the event.

Then, we mail out the professionally printed diploma in the mail for your own special family celebration or dinner. The mailing is timed to arrive on or the day before the virtual ceremony.  In past years, some families have also purchased their own graduation announcements to mail out to family and friends as well. It’s also fun for grads to wear a cap and gown for the virtual ceremony and at the end you can take a picture of them holding the ‘real’ diploma we mail out. Our school colors are royal blue and white.

Q

SAT Prep

WiloStar3D recommends that juniors look into taking the SAT as early as the fall of their junior year. Many local community colleges do not require students take the SAT and if you intend on starting out at the local community college then we suggest you check with the local admissions office to check their enternace requirements. Many of our WiloStar grads start out at the local commuinty college and then transfer to a four year school. This is a great way to get college level classes under your belt. If you do plan on applying directly to a four year college it’s very important to investigate the colleges you are interested in. Read about their entrance requirements and do your homework. All four year colleges require either the SAT or ACT. Here is some great info on how to sign up and take the SAT.
Q

WiloStar recommends college bound seniors sign up for an account at the Common App site. The Common app is a great way to submit your college applications,  but also allows WiloStar to submit official transcripts and teacher recommendation letters simulatinusly to all colleges you are interested in. WiloStar teachers and counselors have an account where we can securely submit the needed documentation for your college applications.

You can sign up at this link.
