Enrollment & Admissions FAQs
Is WiloStar3D a full-time or part-time program?
WiloStar3D Academy is a full-time online private school program. Students are enrolled for a complete academic experience that includes live class meetings, live Study Hall sessions, immersive learning projects, and guided instruction across subjects. Part-time enrollment is not currently offered.
How does enrollment work?
Enrollment begins with:
- A conversation to ensure WiloStar3D is a good fit- use our contact form to request an admissions call back and set up a time to go over your questions. All appointments are on EST.
- Fill out online application
- placement and enrollment steps
Because WiloStar3D is a specialized program, enrollment is intentional and capacity-limited.
Is WiloStar3D a good fit for every student?
No — and we are transparent about that.
WiloStar3D works best for students who benefit from:
- live interaction
- creative, immersive learning
- structure with flexibility
- teacher guidance throughout the day
We work with families to ensure alignment before enrollment.
✅ This Program Is For Students Who:
- Are curious, imaginative, and love storytelling or games. Whether they dream of dragons, space colonies, or time travel, WiloStar3D gives them the tools to bring those stories to life and learn in new ways.
- Are comfortable using a PC with mouse and keyboard. Students will use our downloadable Windows-based Wiloworlds app—not a browser game or tablet app—to build their own worlds and scripted NPCs.
- Read at or above a 6th grade level in the middle school. Our lessons include reading fantasy, science fiction or historical fiction short stories and analyzing literary elements. Students then use the elements they learned about the create their own virtual world adventure games.
- Have experience with or interest in games like Minecraft, Roblox, or other sandbox-style building games. This program builds on those instincts—only now your child becomes the game designer.
- Enjoy challenges and like figuring things out. This isn’t a plug-and-play experience. Students will encounter roadblocks and bugs—and that’s part of the journey. We help them troubleshoot, problem-solve, and grow.
- Are independent learners (or learning to be!) Students who can follow directions, explore on their own, and take initiative will thrive in this environment.
- Have parental support. Even though we have live teacher supervison and input, parent involvement—especially for tech setup and progress monitoring—is crucial for success.
🚫 This Program Is Not a Good Fit For Students Who:
- Need constant live instruction or struggle to work independently. While help is available via in-world chat and a support desk during the school day, the student must take initiative as well and problem solve. That’s the nature of technology.
- Are not reading at a middle school level. If your child struggles with reading comprehension, much of the course content may be difficult to access even with our accomodations.
- Have limited frustration tolerance. Creating virtual worlds can be tricky! If your child is easily discouraged or frequently gives up when something doesn’t work perfectly, this program may lead to stress rather than success.
- Use Mac, Chromebook, or tablets. Our platform is Windows PC only. Please check system requirements carefully before enrolling.
- Expect a passive experience. This isn’t a VR tour or a video game walkthrough. Students will be creating, not just consuming content.
What grade levels do you serve?
WiloStar3D serves students in middle school (6-8) and high school. Grade placement is determined through a review of academic readiness, learning needs, and placement discussions with families rather than age alone.
What does the school schedule look like?
Students begin their day at 9:00 AM in their own time zone. The day includes a balance of:
- independent dashboard work
- live Study Hall inside Wiloworlds
- scheduled live class meetings
- project and build time
Most students finish their schoolwork by 3:00 PM, with no traditional homework expected.
Are there live classes every day?
Yes, excluding Wednesdays at the middle school level. WiloStar3D is a live, teacher-led school. Students attend scheduled live class meetings multiple days per week and have access to teachers throughout the day during their live office hours. Be aware that this does not mean teachers are standing at the front of the virtual classroom lecturing and leading your student all day long. This is a blended learning enviroment with both self-directed and live experiences mixed in. This is a very important distinction. If your student needs one on one teachings live all day for all subjects this is not the placement for them.
Is the program flexible?
Yes —to a degree. Flexibility is built into how learning is designed and supported. However, WiloStar3D is not a self-paced or drop-in program. Students are expected to attend live sessions, stay engaged during the school day, and communicate with teachers regularly. Students are also expected to attempt to upload assignments and complete projects by the specified due dates. This balance of structure and flexibility works especially well for neurodiverse learners.
What time zones do you support? Do you accept international students?
WiloStar3D serves students across multiple time zones. Students begin their day at 9:00 AM local time, and live meetings are scheduled at consistent Eastern Time blocks. We work with families during enrollment to ensure schedules are a good fit. We do accept overseas students so long as they not more than 5-6 hours outside of our time zone. Otherwise they would be attending the live component of our program too late into the evening.
What does attendance look like?
Attendance includes:
- logging into the learning dashboard
- participating in live class meetings
- engaging during Study Hall and 3D Building time
Attendance is monitored, and teachers stay in communication with families to support consistency and engagement.
Does WiloStar3D follow a traditional school calendar?
WiloStar3D follows a school-year calendar with scheduled breaks. Details about vacations and holidays are provided to enrolled families before the school year begins. A good rule of thumb with us is that we start the Tuesday after Labor Day and end the second Friday in May. We also have a required live orientation in Wiloworlds, our 3D campus, the last week in August for all new students.

The Result!
Students experience learning as something they do, not something done to them.
For many families, this is where learning finally clicks.
